Alec is a Kenyan citizen born in 1950.
He has been a Trustee of Gertrude’s Children’s Hospital since 2000 and is the current Chairman.
An engineer by training graduating from Loughborough University in 1973 followed by an MBA at Manchester Business School in 1976
Joined family company Davis & Shirtliff in 1976 and has worked there since, and now the Executive Chairman
Anabelle Maria Cardoso Sequeira is a member of the East African Women’s League, Rosslyn Branch. She joined the Board of Gertrude’s Children’s Hospital as the EAWL representative Trustee in March 2020. Qualified as a Biochemist from the University of Bombay and later worked as a Lecturer at Dhempe College of Arts and Science, Goa, India.
She is happily married with three sons, all well placed in their professional careers. Prior to joining the Board of Trustees at Gertrude’s Children’s Hospital she was a member of the Board of Governors of Kenton College Preparatory School, Nairobi.
Elizabeth is a professor of paediatrics, Department of Paediatrics and Child Health, University of Nairobi, and a consultant paediatrician and pulmonologist. Elizabeth has authored many research publications in paediatric, paediatric HIV, and paediatric pulmonology.
Elizabeth has served in a number of World health Organization and national technical working groups. In addition to being a Trustee at Gertrude’s Children’s Hospital, Elizabeth is an executive baord member of Beacon of Hope.
Terry Davidson is a career banker having spent 3 decades with Citibank in various geographies and 5 years as CEO of Kenya Commercial Bank. For the past few years, Terry has worked as an independent consultant and is on the board of various companies, including Chairman of First Capital Bank Ltd and an independent director of Prime Bank Ltd and Asilia Ltd.
Terry was a founder member of the Kenya Capital Markets Authority, a member of the Kenya Capital Markets Tribunal, the Kenya Deposit Protection Fund, Chairman of the Kenya Bankers Association and past council member of the University of Nairobi. In addition to being a Trustee of Gertrudes Children’s hospital, Terry is also Chairman of the Gertrudes Pension Fund and a Trustee of the Gertrudes Foundation.
Bimalroy Shah (Kilu) is an entrepreneur and businessman. He is Managing Director of Flexopak Kenya Ltd and has been involved in various activities at Gertrude’s Children’s Hospital since 1995. He joined the Board of Trustees in December 2008.
George Maina holds a B.Tech (Hons) in Engineering and Design from Loughborough University, UK. He is a business consultant and director of several companies. He is also a former Managing Director of Kenya Shell Ltd and BP Kenya Ltd. He joined the Board Of Trustees in November 2004.
Dr Mark Awori is a children’s heart surgeon and a senior lecturer in the Department of Surgery, School of Medicine, University of Nairobi. Mark has authored two books. He joined the Board of Trustees on October 9, 2017.
Jonathan is a well‐known Kenyan businessman, born and brought up in Kenya and educated in both Kenya and the United Kingdom. In 2000, he founded AccessKenya Group Ltd which became Kenya’s leading Corporate Internet Service Provider.
During his tenure, the company became the first ICT company to list on the Nairobi Stock Exchange and he successfully ran the business from its inception in 2000 up to September 2015 when he stepped down as the Group Managing Director, having overseen the sale of the business to Dimension Data in 2013. As a well‐known entrepreneur and businessman, Jonathan brings his knowledge of the ICT Industry to the Hospital, his East African knowledge and expertise as well as his skills as a leader and manager of businesses in the region. Jonathan holds a degree in Economics & Accounting from Bristol University.
