Course Objective

This course provides essential, practical training for health workers to confidently handle paediatric emergencies, improving outcomes for children in critical conditions.

Specific Objectives

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Identify emergency cases among children in outpatient settings.
  • Evaluate the severity of a child’s emergency condition.
  • Administer appropriate treatment based on the assessment results.

Course Content

  1. Introduction,
  2. Recognition of the seriously ill child,
  3. Management of the seriously ill child,
  4. Basic life support and use of Bag Valve Mask(BVM),
  5. Foreign body  removal (FBAO),
  6. Trauma,
  7. Cardiac Arrhythmia,
  8. Airway Vascular Arrhythmia,
  9. Newborn Respiratory Failure, Circulatory Failure
  10. Scenario Demonstration.

Facilitators

Clinicians and allied professionals involved in the training of healthcare workers on the provision of resuscitation services in Kenya and UK.

Kshs. 30,000 for Kenyans and $375 for foreigners, per person.
