Course Objective

To equip the graduates with knowledge and skills to prepare them to respond quickly to emergency situations regarding medical issues, traumatic injuries and accident scenes.

Why EMT

  • The County governments are required to have within every county emergency teams -thereby making the job market ready for such qualified
  • EMT training offers a wider playing field especially for qualified persons- Emergency training is not limited to medics but the skills are applied in every field where emergency solutions to emerging issues are necessary.
  • The Training gives the students the skills necessary to save lives if called upon especially in situations where hospitals are not in close reach.
  • The skills offer a wider career playing field for you- from the sports arenas, to construction sites, hotels, ambulance etc

Course Content

Introduction, principles of first aid, basic life support, foreign body obstruction removal, bleeding, chain of survival, choking, trauma management, fainting, cardiac arrest, burns, drowning, poisoning and febrile convulsion.

Facilitators

The facilitation team comprises of highly qualified and competent lecturers local and International with vast experience in Critical Care.

Mode of Delivery

The course will be offered on full time basis by Lectures, Examinations, Continuous Assessment, Case studies and Research Project and Presentation

Eligible candidates

Not more than 20 participants School matrons, teachers, parents and caregivers, drivers and students in upper classes

Gertrude’s Children’s Hospital, Professional Training Centre

Course Duration

7 months divided into 5 months of four hours per day face to face lectures+2 months clinical exposure

Course Fees

Kshs. 30,000 for Kenyans and $375 for foreigners, per person.

The Fee covers: Tuition, teaching and learning materials, venue, mid morning teas and coffee, lunch, afternoon tea and coffee, certificate
